Sherwin Williams Color of the Year 2023

Updated: Nov 6, 2022

I don't know if you were here in February, but I posted a blog called, "Is 2022 The Year Where Warm Tones Take Over?" Well it looks like that prediction has come true!

Sherwin Williams has released the color of the year for 2023 and it's definitely a warm tone!

Redend Point SW 9081

I am not usually a fan of warm tones that lean pink or beige, but I surprisingly really like this color! Sherwin Williams describes it as minimal, calming, and intriguing and I think they nailed that description.

This color reminds me of a natural blush. It's a soothing color that easily compliments while still having enough character to stand on its own if needed.

Where am I most excited about using this color in my next few projects?

1) Bedrooms

I love how soothing this color is and I think if paired with natural elements it will create the ultimate sanctuary space.

Main bedroom, guest bedroom, or nursery - this color will shine in all of these spaces!

2) Butler's Pantry

I don't know if I would advise my clients to incorporate this color into a full kitchen as I worry it may not stand the test of time. But put it in a butler's pantry? You bet!

Used in this space it adds a pop of the unexpected and adds interest to an otherwise boring space. I would love to pop into the pantry to use some of my larger appliances and be wrapped in a warm hug of this color! It just adds a little extra touch of fun to the cooking process!

3) Home Office

Maybe it's the return if the rain here in the PNW or the fact that my office is a little on the chilly side as I write this, but I am loving the warmth this brings to a home office. It's warm but not overpowering. At times warm tones can feel suffocating, but this color is the perfect hue for a relaxed vibe without overpowering a space.

What are your thoughts on the Sherwin Williams Color of the Year?

Could you see adding this color to your home?

Let me know in the comments where you plan to use it!
