It seems like Fall has arrived today in the PNW. The rain is back in full force!
As the seasons slowly begin to change, I find myself ready for a change in home decor. My minimalist tendencies of the summer soften and I find myself adding candles, chunky throws, and touches of warm tones to our home.
Here are a few of my favorite things to add for the Fall season!
Before we get started, I have to admit I am definitely more on the pumpkin spice side of the Fall spectrum and not so much the Halloween side. The whole spider web, dark corners, and things jumping out is just really not my cup of tea!
If you prefer the dark and scary, I will admire your decorative touches from afar and then bring you a pumpkin flavored dessert and candle on November 1st when I can be sure there aren't any real spiders mixed in with the plastic ones!
So what are my favorite Fall pieces?
1) A Warm, Chunky Blanket
Fall and Winter are my favorite seasons to embrace bulky texture. There is something so comforting about having a big blanket within arms reach.
It's easy to grab on a rainy day or
use it for warmth while sitting on the back patio in the evening. I personally opt for neutral colors so blankets can easily transition from the warm colors of Fall to the cool colors of Winter.
2) A New Candle
I'll be the first to admit, I am VERY picky about candles. I love the cozy flicker of the flame, but if the smell is too overpowering I just can't do it. My favorite candle right now is Hearth and Hand Cardamom and Vetiver. It has a light clean smell, but still gives that perfect coziness for those Fall afternoons! If you swing by my office this month I can almost guarantee it will be lit in the windowsill next to my desk.
3) A Warm Table Centerpiece
Spring and Summer you won't find much on my dining table, but that all changes when the weather gets colder. I love using pumpkins and acorn squash with textured baskets or wooden crates. There is just something about the warm colors and varying textures that makes the dining table ready for friends to gather.
Don't forget your coffee table needs a little cozy touch too! I add coffee table books with burgundy, mustard, and brown tones. Warm tones and a new book to read - win, win!
What are you favorite Fall staples?
