When Jessica and Pete approached me about remodeling their kitchen, they had a clear vision in mind: they wanted a space that was not only functional but one that could also serve as the heart of their home. With a growing family and a love for hosting, they needed a kitchen that would accommodate their everyday meals and family gatherings, all while offering plenty of storage, modern finishes, and a touch of luxury. This remodel was designed with them in mind, and every detail was crafted to help them make memories in the heart of their home.

Before: The Space’s Challenges
The existing kitchen had a lot of untapped potential, but the layout didn’t quite work for Jessica and Pete’s lifestyle. A wall separated the kitchen from the formal dining area, making the space feel disconnected. The original island was too small for their needs, and storage space was limited.

Design Concept: Crafting a Functional and Beautiful Space
The goal of this kitchen remodel was to create a seamless flow between the kitchen and dining areas while maximizing the space for cooking, storage, and family gatherings. Removing the wall between the kitchen and dining room opened up the area and created a natural connection to the backyard, which will be great for hosting. We also focused on a larger island—a dream come true for Jessica - one that not only had ample seating for everyday use but also plenty of storage for all their pantry items.
Additionally, we wanted the design to reflect Jessica and Pete’s lifestyle. The kitchen needed to be easy to use for daily meal prep but also be a space that felt welcoming for larger gatherings. The combination of functional design elements with a modern, warm aesthetic would create the ideal kitchen for their family.

Design Process: Working Together to Bring the Vision to Life
Throughout the design process, Jessica and Pete were clear on their goals, and together, we developed a space that was both practical and beautiful. We worked closely to select materials that were durable and stylish, focusing on a color palette that would feel fresh but timeless here in the PNW. From the statement hood above the range to the custom cabinetry with lighting and storage solutions, every detail was considered to make their daily life easier and more enjoyable. And of course, we didn’t forget the special touches like the coffee/cocktail area!

Stay tuned for Part 2 of the series, where we’ll dive into the details of the materials, finishes, and custom features that will make this kitchen truly shine!
